I want to help you overcome your fear of labor. Do you want to know how to overcome the fear of labor? Let’s go! When it comes to childbirth, the fear of the unknown is big. Overcoming that fear of labor is a huge part of going into birth with confidence.
Just as the lead up to an event, the ‘build up’ is often much bigger than the even itself.
When we talk about FTP. It can stand for FAILURE. TO. PROGRESS.
Failure to Progress is a term in labor that means a woman is not progressing well in labor, which can lead to interventions.
FTP also stand for FEAR. TENSION. PAIN.
And the ironic thing is that Fear, Tension and Pain (or perception of pain) can lead to Failure to Progress in labor.

Ease Your Fear of Childbirth
You are not alone if you are a mama who fears the prospect of having to actually deliver a baby and go through childbirth. It is natural for you to feel apprehensive and even scared as you approach labor.
The stress from worrying about childbirth may contribute to both early and late deliveries, smaller babies, and a higher risk for an emergency Cesarean.

There is help available to you. I highly recommend you speak with your health care provider when it comes to your fears about labor. Often, they can alleviate some stress by clarifying misconceptions about labor based on what you have read online or heard from other mamas.
How to Cope with Childbirth Fears
1. Avoid the Horror Stories
For some reason, women tend to focus on the so-called horror stories associated with labor. TV shoes and movies are one source that often deliver inaccurate information about childbirth.
2. Start Childbirth Preparation Early
My Childbirth Preparation course is all about delivering the right information, tips, tools and techniques well in advance of labor. By doing this, you will be empowered with the knowledge and tools you need to enjoy a more positive birth experience. Your goal is to identify your fears and then put into action some tips and strategies to overcome these fears.
3. What is Causing Your Anxiety?
There may be specific experiences in your past that can trigger an intense fear of labor. Also, if you have a history of anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem then this may also be triggering your fears.
4. Learn the Right Skills
I love meditating. This is why I have incorporated meditation videos into my online pregnancy program. Practicing meditation in advance of labor can help calm you during pregnancy and labor.
5. Share your fears
There is professional help available for you to chat about your fears. The bets way for you to empower yourself and reduce the anxiety is to get the facts.
6. Get your own midwife or doula
Midwives and doulas will likely become your greatest support before and during labor.
7. Learn about pain relief during labor
One of the greatest causes in fearing labor has to do with the fear of experiencing pain. When you learn the safe and effective means of relief are available to you then will reduce your anxiety. Take a childbirth class or chat with your caregiver beforehand about medication and other pain-relief methods.
