This viral video is going to make ‘nesting parties’ the next big trend for expecting moms
When you have a baby on the way, a baby shower is the “standard” way to celebrate and prepare for the little one’s arrival. But for some moms, a baby shower isn’t the most appealing celebration. After all, eating cake and getting stared at while you open gifts may not make you feel ready for motherhood — and that’s OK! That’s why one mom’s video about her “nesting party” is going viral — it offers an alternative that tons of moms are likely to find super appealing.
A mom named Nia, who goes by @nialui21 on TikTok, posted the video about her nesting party, which she had before her baby was born.

To prepare for the party, Nia sent her friend Bri a list of things she wanted to get done around the house before the baby arrived. Bri had cards printed up for all the attendees with to-do lists. When everyone arrived for the party, they received a card and got to work.
“I took on more of a supervisor role, telling people where I wanted things and what I wanted to do with things,” Nia explained. “Then we took a dinner break, ate some soup, some sourdough bread, some treats, and chatted about this baby and how it’s going to be.”
The soup spread looked amazing, but after dinner, the group got right back to work on their chore lists, cleaning, organizing, and helping Nia get her home ready for a new baby.
“Everything was so clean and organized and I feel so much more ready for this baby,” she said. “And everyone brought freezer meals for me for postpartum. It was so much fun! I highly recommend a nesting party if you’re getting ready for a baby.”
Forget getting ready for a baby — we’re going to start doing these for holidays and birthdays, too.
